A dumb thing

Nov 17, 2007 2:58AM PST

Today, my wife was trying to send an email to CHOWHOUND, an interactive Web site for food aficionados. But she mistakenly posted the URL of her own YAHOO mail page that was up at the time, including all the links to her messages, her inbox and everything. She almost immediately deleted the message from the Chowhound page, which I guess is SOP; users can delete their own posts. But now she is worried that the link to her email is out there and available to any tom. dickand harry to rifle through her email if they like. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Should she worry?

I never heard of a situation like this.

I would say

since it was only out there a short time, chances are that no one saw it. There is a slight chance someone did see it. Since you're using Yahoo, she can tell the spamblocker that the person is SPAM.

***Remember, NEVER open an email from someone you don't know. It could contain a virus or spyware.

Disable the preview pane. If there is such an email, the preview pane already opened it for you.

Never run a computer without virus protection. There are FREE virus programs out there. Avast and AVG FREE, just to name a few.

I would tell her NOT to worry, life's too short to worry about something this small.
