A *doh* question: Which model Toshiba Satellite do I have?

by jennyinjamaica / May 2, 2006 10:55 AM PDT

I need to buy a new battery for my Toshiba Satellite, but I don't see where the model is listed. Can anyone help this poor wayward girl?

click on START....HELP AND SUPPORT....TOOLS....MY COMPUTER INFORMATION....VIEW GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS COMPUTER This will tell you your model and other things. However usually the model will be printed on a small stick-on label under the laptop.Cheers Stewart

That worked great on my Inspiron, which is running Windows XP.

I'd forgotton that the computer (which I abandoned to my husband some time ago) is running Windows ME.

I had a lightening bolt moment (imagine that!) and took the battery out to see what's written on it. I still don't know what model the computer is, but the battery goes with Satellite 220, 300, 400, 1555, 1800, 2000, and 4000, so I guess that narrows it down a bit.

Just a little information for you. This does not always apply. Yes it is true you can get some basic information from the System/Computer Information screen. However, Toshiba does not always list the entire Model number. For example, on my laptop it lists the Satellite family model number, but the submodel number [after the dash] does not appear anywhere. Unfortunately, Toshiba lists each model number in completeness.

is different from the model number when i registered the laptop. Thats another idea did you ever register your laptop? When I registered mime and entered my device serial number it told me what the model number was. I can also access that under my account at Acer. I shows me both the laptops I've registered that are Acers.
