I used to worry about it, and interrogate my firewall, but in the end I decided not to concern myself. For me the continued activity, if it was that, only lasts a couple of seconds or so, (broadband), and I regularly check for spyware such as keyloggers, etc.
Unless your activity goes on for some time, I wouldn't worry about it. But if it does, then then you should use your anti-,alware programs, updated to check for nasties on your computer.
Also check for running porgrams in the background.

Every time I disconnect from the Internet when running FF, I see some activity going on in my dial up connection.
The little "monitor" looking thing in the Taskbar section. Think you know what I mean.
Never happens when using IE, so just wondering if FF keeps some kind of communications open for whatever reason, with the FF site?
Updates have been disabled, and unchecked.
All works well, but still curious..
