A conspiracy of silence! Video capturing.

Mar 29, 2005 9:51PM PST

Hey all,
Can anyone help me on capturing video... I have been running D-video via firewire into ULEAD DVD movie factory (Cheap but solid program) and find that when I capture under the 'best' setting I get lossless 720*576 MPG/AVI but it is significantly grainier than the original video. It seems really hard to get info on all this stuff on the net and I was wondering what recommendations you guys might have.

When I moved up to firewire I naively expected to get pretty similar on PC results to what I saw when I ran my D8 camcorder thru my TV... It isn't terrible but I feel sure it could be better. Captures are grainy and colours less vibrant.

I have experimented with ULEAD MEDIA STUDIO PRO 6.5 capture program but find it unintuitive in general.

On a previous posting from another forum member I have heard Premier is about the best you can get before you move on to AVID deck. If so I only have an old version (5) can I set that up?

Are there any suggested settings/reccs to get the best out of this?

Sorry about all the questions and thanks...

Adam
