A cd-rom problem

Mar 9, 2004 10:49PM PST

Hello,
I'd like to know what is with my pc..the cd-rom is working with some cds which are mostly the music cds, but if it is a cd with data or something( i mean it is not of acompany; it is a cd carrying some files from any other pc, u know!) it doesn't read it; or even work....also, the disc drive (A) never read any disc and always ask me 2 format it; and if i did, it can't be formatted though it works in any other pc
If i can solve these problems by myself without using an excpert please tell me how; i'll be so thankful
My pc is pentium 1.1 (so old) working with windows 95
Thank you very much

if these CDs work in someone else's computer, your CD-ROM drive has probably died. the only way to be sure is to take the drive out and put it into another machine and see if it has the same problems. same thing with the floppy disk drive.

Have you clicked Start/Run/ type in the letter of your cd-rom drive, D:\ or whatever the assigned letter is. Click OK. If they are not autorun cd's they will not run on their own.
