A burning question

Jan 4, 2009 1:41AM PST

Briefly: Roxio Toast 9 is on sale, and I was wondering whether Toast makes burning, compressing and other things significantly easier or better. (I have the basic burning capability for my G4 Sawtooth Mac desktop in a SuperDrive but never have used Toast.) I see that it can do all kinds of burning, including some that I never had thought of doing, but the issue here is whether it will vastly improve my experience in just basic burning of CDs, DVDs and such.

Also, some reviews that I read said that Toast version 9 was less hospitable than version 8. Does anyone know about that? This is not just for me but for my loved ones in Edinburgh, who are fairly new to Macs.

Thanks,

Jenny

Toast

is the burning software of choice for the Mac.

I'm sure there are others out there, some possibly free, but I always come back to Toast.

I am running v9 on Leopard and have not had any problems with it.

Not sure where you got the compressing thing from though but it will greatly improve your burning experience over just burning from the OS.

I would recommend Toast, but that's just my opinion.

Good answer!

Thanks, Peter. I certainly shall take all this into consideration if I should start doing more burning, as well as passing on your recommendation to the Edinburgh crowd. They have Leopard (which I don't).

The compression thing came from a description of Toast 9.

Again, thanks for the speedy, concise, comprehensible answer.

Best,

Jenny
