98 Upgrade to XP Home?

by hinesjrh / August 3, 2004 8:37 AM PDT

Does anyone have a link to Microsoft's minimum system requirements for Win XP Home? I have a Gateway Pentium II 350 MHz, with 320 Mb memory, 8.5 Gb hard drive (1.5 currently free). I am wondering how realistice it is to upgrade to Win XP home. I am currently running Win 98.

Don't. Here's why.

The KOD in my view is that 8.4GB hard disk. Windows NT 4.0 struggled on 4GB drives. Windows 2000 would push around owner/maintainers of 8G drives. XP will swamp out that 8G drive.

Don't do this. Stick with the OS that fits your size machine.

PS. KOD = Kiss Of Death.

What is "realistice"? It doesn't appear in any of my dictionaries.

Typos... IMO.

Such things abound in the posts here. A little known study found many can decipher what was meant even when typos reach 2 out of 5 characters. The only place I tend to want no typographic errors is when it comes to the "error message".

Unlike Internet News Groups, typos are tolerated here.
