96' Jeep Grand Cherokee Problem..Please help!

Apr 18, 2008 4:50AM PDT

I got this Jeep in August of 07' with 120,000 miles. It was fine until this Feburary when a rubbing noise started occurring towards the back end. This isn't just a regular rubbing noise, it's loud and very high pitched. Some days it won't make it, but others it will.

When the noise occurs, I can also feel it in the front floorboard and in the gas pedal. It appears that the tires themselves are not rubbing, but possibly something in or around the axle itself. But after inspecting the rear axle, nothing appears to be in the way.

Help? Let me know if you want pictures, better descriptions, etc. Feel free to ask questions to help narrow down possible problems..

Thanks!
