Unless you have some nice say 36" or bigger screen HDTV set, capable of 1080i/p, it's in no way worth the kind of money you're talking. Even if you had some rather large screen display, it would still take a lot to convince me it's worth that kind of cash.
I am in the market for a new AV receiver. A lot of the mid to high end receivers offer up conversion from 480i/480p to 720p/1080i. I imagine that at some point I will purchase a Blu-ray player that will upconvert my movies negating the need for my AV receiver to do this. However, I wanted to know the impact this would have on my games. I was curious if anyone has hooked up their Wii/ps2/xbox via componant cables to such an AV receiver and what results they have experienced when upconverting to 720p/1080i... Is it worth the extra $400-$500 hundred dollars?
