70 or more spam emails a day with Hotmail & Outlook!!

I couldn't find a program to stop spam effectively. So I just use three different boxes, two on yahoo. One box is used when some website makes me give an address for access (I open it only to pull the password they send me). Second box is for sites I purchase on like flowers.com or landsend.com.... Almost every site that gets your email address will sell it, so give them these boxes. The third box is only for people I know.

I have found that if you block all bulk mail with Yahoo you will greatly decrease spam,however you don't seem to have a problem with Yahoo.If you can do this with your other email sites this might help.

I found it interesting that you wondered if Microsoft's Hotmail was not only ignoring your reporting of spam, but possibly ''sharing'' your email with spammers. I've wondered the same thing.

Yahoo is great. Very little spam with them. Even less than one a day. Hotmail is horrible. I NEVER get spammers I've reported automatically routed to the spam folder. Ever! It is as annoying as hell to have to go through 50+ emails to pick out the three or four valid messages I get. Worse I often worry that I may have missed a valid message and trashed it by mistake.

Google mail is pretty good. Once reported repeat offender automatically go to a spam folder.

I don't use Outlook Express, but do use Outlook. I recently upgraded my MS Office from MS Office 2002 to MS Office 2003. The spam filters in this version of Outlook work much much better than previous versions.

I use a solution called ''Qurb''. You can get a link to their site at my website. www.atlantats.com. Go to the contact page and you will find a link. The software got rid of about 95% of my spam. Some of my ''suspicous'' email such as a technology ad I wanted was blocked, but you can see where it is coming from! Hope this helps!

Have had the same problem. Use to just use my mail
assistants from my ISP and just "BLOCK and DELETE."
Now I forward all spam received to my ISP's "spamdesk"
and let them deal with it. Since I'm paying for their
'net connection services, I figure they're more adept
at eventually (?) reducing my glut of spam received.
I continue to block and delete and frequently use
assorted spyware, adware and spam removal utilities.
Have been able to reduce it, but not eliminate it.
Hopefully the IT community and Congress will enact
legislation such as the "DO NOT CALL" list with a
"DO NOT SPAM" list, but I wouldn't hold your breath on
that happening any time soon. Good Luck.

Also, if you dont want to give your email out to people but you need to check the confirm email, use dodgeit.com. Invent a fictional email address like: soandso@dodgeit.com and you can easily access all emails sent to that address by going to dodgeit.com its free and you dont have to set it up at all.

I have been using this combination (Earthlink as ISP/email provider; Incredimail instead of Outlook Express on my computer) for a long time. I hve been very pleased with the spam rejection they provide.

I started using "Blue Security" about 4 months ago. It doesn't stop the spam..they keep records on who is sending what to who, spamwise, and they appear to get on the spammer's case. I used to get 3 to 4 spams daily, I reported these to Bluesecurity, and now I get , maybe one a week. You should be able to find the Bluesecurity website and download the FREE program..and start getting back at the spammers.

As long as you use your email address, you will get spam/junk mail.

By using a utility program, such as: Popfile, Choicemail, mailwasher, etc. You can programmed them to automatically deleting the email that you don't want.
-- (But, it won't reduce the INCOMING spam/junk emailed to you, and certainly not to prevent their (spammers) systems from sending spam/junk.) --

We will never beat advertising. It's like a fungus or virus that no pill will cure. I have my AOL set now where I get about 3-5 spams daily in the spam file. Some I keep, some I delete. I don't think the "report spam" button does anything. Now I have read AOL, for a price, will allow advertisers to bypass spam controls. It's decision time again. I see where advertisements are going to show up on the white lines in parking lots. I suppose next the toilet paper you buy will be selling products. OOPS! I hope I didn't start something.

I am using spam fighter. It comes with 2 versions the paid PRO version and free STANDARD version. I am using the standard version.

It does a good job, though it doesn't block few mails sometimes. Statistics in the SpamFighter show that 75% of my mails are junk .;-(

I am happy without as it saves time for me marking and removing the mails.

The down side is that the free version it adds it signature in your mails. But I don't mind that.

I've used Hotmail as my only home email address for over 6 years now, and I had the same problem. A couple years ago, Hotmail started offering the Exclusive setting (Options?Junk Email Protection?Junk Email Settings). Now, all (and I do mean ALL) of the mail in my Inbox is only from approved senders and sources on my Safe List/Contacts List. I check the Junk E-Mail folder regularly and find something incorrectly blocked about 2-3 times per week. Its a simple matter to tell the program that these messages are safe so future messages from this source can be sent to the Inbox. The other 8-15 messages per day in the Junk E-Mail folder are deleted without ever having to see more than the Subject line.

I used to use Netscape Mail which I liked. Then I switched to Outlook Express (after upgrading to XP) but never liked it. It didn't help that horror stories kept coming out about viruses that would send email using the address book of Outlook & OE. It doesn't have any spam protection & comcast (my isp) doesn't do a good enough job of filtering spam mail. I finally switched to Thunderbird a couple of months ago & am VERY happy with it. It has a built-in spam filter. It learns to screen spam quickly and after downloading my mail it automatically takes care of those messages. Occasionally it misses one or two. The install and conversion from OE was very easy & very clean, too.
I also have a yahoo email that I use mostly for purchases & web contacts to minimize exposure of my personal home email to the world. But eventually spam does find you...
