7/7 ?mastermind? is seized in Iraq

Apr 27, 2007 9:43PM PDT
LINK

The al-Qaeda leader who is thought to have devised the plan for the July 7 suicide bombings in London and an array of terrorist plots against Britain has been captured by the Americans.

Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, a former major in Saddam Hussein?s army, was apprehended as he tried to enter Iraq from Iran and was transferred this week to the ?high-value detainee programme? at Guantanamo Bay.

Abd al-Hadi was taken into CIA custody last year, it emerged from US intelligence sources yesterday, in a move which suggests that he was interrogated for months in a ?ghost prison? before being transferred to the internment camp in Cuba.

Abd al-Hadi, 45, was regarded as one of al-Qaeda?s most experienced, most intelligent and most ruthless commanders. Senior counter-terrorism sources told The Times that he was the man who, in 2003, identified Britain as the key battleground for exporting al-Qaeda?s holy war to Europe.

He WAS doing Saddam's dirty work
Apr 27, 2007 9:52PM PDT

THEN he did al-Qaeda?s dirty work?

But I guess you're saying//hinting he was doing al-Qaeda?s dirty work all along.

Got proof?

Nope...
Apr 27, 2007 10:03PM PDT

He was an al-Qaeda operative long before we invaded. Look him up. That can be your project.

IF I was you

and believed what You say, i would rush right over to see the President.

HE would love to be able to "directly link" Saddam with al-Qaeda

Are you claiming I don't believe what I say?
Apr 27, 2007 10:56PM PDT

Just because we don't have a Notarized, signed by Saddam document that there was no involvement between him and Al Quaeda, doesn't mean there wasn't. The Mideast doesn't work that way. Only the terminally naive think so.

you believing it

doesn't necessarily make it so...

then i humbly suggest that maybe you should alter the way you percieve or interperate posts here, try not to read between the lines and possibly sit a little longer on the sidelines 'til the view improves....

and please, this is not to to be seen as me say that you aren't welcome here...

Non sequitur ...
Apr 28, 2007 12:13AM PDT

What I believe is not important. In his zinger, Bill implied that I might not believe what I say. I do. I don't claim that my believing it makes it so.

The story I posted was from the Times of London I believe? A little research will show that this guy was involved in setting up the terrorist camps that we destroyed after 9/11. He was active in al-Qaeda before the Iraq invasion.

That's all. Not trying to "prove" anything to anyone. You may draw your own conclusions.

People in positions of power can admit it

IF I was you (but i'm not) and I believed what YOU say (but I don't) I would rush right over to see the President.

Where did I say you don't believe what you say?

In a round about way I asked "How come the President isn't privy to the same info you are?"

Perhaps he is, but HE has learned from experience and YOU haven't

Not according to George Tenet and the CIA
Apr 28, 2007 1:45AM PDT

though a Pentagon outfit did try to create "evidence" of such links. Meanwhile, this has clearly crossed the line to politics so I'm locking the thread -- that's also why I'm not posting a link to the Pentagon Inspector General's report supporting what I just said, though you can Google for it if you want.

Apr 28, 2007 9:59PM PDT

Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi? I doubt it very much, but if so let's see a link. Are you saying he was not an al-Qaeda operative in the Nineties?

I am not claiming a direct link between Saddam and al-Qaeda, but there were links; that is undeniable. Saddam was not an innocent little lamb when it came to terrorism.

He joined al-Qaeda AFTER the invasion and because he was coming FROM Iran, means nothing. You do know that he is INNOCENT until proven guilty.
