67 Year Old Grandma wants simple digital camera under $300

by spidermans2 / November 25, 2008 12:58 AM PST

Hi,
My grandma has used a digital camera before but wants a very simple one with no bells and whistle. The only feature she wants is a date stamp and easy to take pictures. One that doesn't have a long lag time between shots. She is basically using it to take pictures of her grandson. She doesn't need any features at all except for the date stamp and minimum lag time. She wants to be able to catch her grandson smile before he turns away. She is frustrated when she takes a bad picture and then has to wait to take another picture and by then the "moment" is gone. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to buy this camera as her Christmas present.

Digital Camera

There is a difficulty.
Not many cameras have a date stamp.
And some of the ones that do, have limitations when using the date stamp.
i.e. Canon requires you to be in postcard mode to use the date stamp.
.... Postcard mode is 1600 x 1200 which is only 2 megapixels.

I don't know of any digital camera data base that includes which cameras have date stamps.
And most camera makers do not list it in their specifications even when some of their cameras have it.

If anyone knows of a camera with a date feature that prints the date on the face of the photo.........give us some help on this one.

Having to use special software or printer options is not a good solution because it would not be grandma simple.
