64bit systems?

Mar 2, 2010 3:22AM PST

I see where most new systems are 64bit and one is hard pressed to find a 32bit system. I've heard friends complain that there wasn't enough programs running 64bit software. Could the 32bit vs 64bit OS be compared to the old VHS vs BETA and we all know how that turned out.

Most laptops ...

have a 64-bit CPU and a 32-bit OS. I'd say that a laptop with a 64-bit OS is difficult to find.

It appears the all Dell offers now are 64 bit systems. Bestbuy, Toshiba and many others all seem to gravitate towards 64bit systems.

Almost all systems are 64 bit even some Celeron processors.

The hardware is basically 64 bit but the OS is either 32 or 64 bit. Most systems that come with 4 gig of ram and above have Windows 7 64 bit installed where as systems with 3 gig or less have either XP, Vista or Windows 7 32 bit. They do have a 64 bit XP but it didn't get great support for drivers.
