If i have a 64 bit processor, is it okay to use a 32 bit version of vista?

Just about any 64-bit processor you can find on the market is fully capable of running 32-bit operating systems and 32-bit applications. In addition, 64-bit versions of Windows can run 32-bit programs, though they require 64-bit drivers and 64-bit compatible security software.

So the 64 bit version of Vista can run 32 bit programs? I was about to install Vista Ultimate 64-bit but heard that I wouldn't be able to run programs like Photoshop CS3 or Autocad.

As I mentioned above there are some exceptions, such as drivers and security software needing to be 64-bit compatible, but Photoshop CS3 and AutoCAD 2008 32-bit versions can be run on Vista x64.
