Laptops forum

General discussion

This is a question mainly for Bob, but anyone please feel free to chime in.

I will soon be purchasing a desktop replacement laptop to replace a 5 yr old Dell P3 Desktop. I have narrowed my my search to the HP zd8000 and Dell 9300, both 17" Media Center laptops, as numerous forums here discuss. Since this truly will be a desktop replacement, used in different rooms of the house, what would be the disadvantages of getting the HP with a P4 6xx, besides the heat, weight and battery? Since the Pentium M processors are not 64 bit capable, wouldn't the P4 be a better choice computer to last 3-4 yrs? PLease feel free to elaborate.
Also, a lot of the work done on the computer will be digital picture/video editing and burning, which suits the P4 w/ HT better, no?
