64 bit V's 32bit ? in new PC's

Hi all...I'd like some advice on the pro's & con's on the differences between the 64 & the 32bit chips that seem to be in all the new desktops available today...
For example. will changing to 64bit in a new PC have any effect on the personal Software that I own...

For most, zero effect.

For me, the video transcoding can get a speed boost. But for most they won't need it.
