6 trojans to remove

Jun 16, 2004 2:13AM PDT

I have win Me. I have Adaware, fully updated. I had Norton professional 2003, but since expiring tomorrow, downloaded AVG free edition yesterday. This am, the AVG picked up the following Trojans, which it, nor Adaware can quarantine &/or clean: Backdoor.Ruldor.d (C:\_A0049862.cpy); Stubby.A (also in similar location): PSW.Bispy.B (similar location); Downloader Rameh.E (similar location); Dropper.Small.5.E (similar location); and PSW.Bispy.A. (Temp\P1.0) If Norton doesn't identify these items, I have no idea how long they've been on computer. Please Help with removal.

y'all....

IMO, you need to totally eradicate Norton some how. I can't tell you since it's a program I'd never own nor do I want to learn about it. You can also receive an education concerning the use of "Norton" at this link. Once Norton is gone:

1. First, please read the article concerning "Unsolicited Commercial Software." Second, perform as a minimum the first five items listed below. Reply to our input that each and every one of the five were used and the result please.

2. If you try using CWShredder, HijackThis, as well Spybot S&D, Ad-aware and several other anti-spyware utilities and a trojan is installed which prevents their running, download PepiMK's "CoolWWWSearch.SmartKiller" removal tool, uncompress the zip file and run the program.

a. "Housecall."
b. 'Adaware."
c. "Spybot S&D."
d. "CWShredder" - 1 or "CWShredder" - 2.
e. "McAfee AVERTStinger."
f. "Hijack This" - 1 or "Hijack This" - 2.

Note: Posting a log concerning this last one should only be at the direction of a forum moderator IMO.

Linda,

Have you tried temporarily Disabling System Restore, then restarting the computer into Safe Mode? Once in Safe Mode, run a full system scan with AVG again. If AVG won't delete them in "Safe Mode", try to navigate to the offending files and delete them manually.

How To Disable System Restore

How To Start In 'Safe Mode'

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes.

Thanks Grif!!! it worked like a charm! Healed 6 and then that allowed the one remaining to be moved to the virus vault.
