6 or 7 seven tasks running, all named svchost.exe ?

Greetings;
Xp sp2:
WHen my system slows, I check TaskMgr.
The main thing i notice, is that there are 6 or 7 seven tasks named svchost.exe .
Is this normal?
What does svchost.exe do?

It's normal

It's normal, and that process is responsible for a number of key Windows services.

Now it's your turn. Why haven't you installed SP3? The only valid excuse is that you're a security researcher and this is a ******** system. Somehow, I don't think that's very likely.

it's ok

svchost.exe may be slowdown your system because of absence some important hotfixes. You need to install the following for XP sp2: kb923414, kb924270, kb958644 and kb970238.

You could also download this freeware program to check what is loaded inside scvhost.exe: http://www.neuber.com/free/svchost-analyzer/index.html
