It really depends on if you are the type of person who just has to have the latest and greatest, or are the type that seeks out a deal. You would undoubtedly pay top dollar for a MK III.
You might want to call Canon and ask about their Loyalty Program, where you can trade in your failing camera for a refurbished one. According to this post, http://www.overclock.net/t/1088761/canon-loyalty-program-faqs-originally-from-potn supposedly the 5D MK II is no longer available, but it never hurts to ask...you might be able to get a 5D MKII for a very low cost.
I currently own a Canon Mark ii N. I loved the camera, great features. Unfortunately it is malfunctioning and the price to fix it is just to close to what it is currently valued at.
I am going to replace it with either the 5D mark ii or iii. My question is should I spend the extra money and get the iii or save a lot and get the ii. With the ii, I am worried that I am paying for "old" technology. With the iii, I am worried I am paying an inflated price because it is new. Or, is there something else that I should consider in regards to the two cameras.
