enderwins,
It depends on what your source content is. The picture may look a little fuzzy if you're watching standard definition television. It will probably look much better on a HD channel or Blu-Ray movie.
One of the rules of thumb I suggest to consumers is to consider the Rule of Three. For every foot of screen corner to corner on the television, you want to sit three feet back. Otherwise, your eyes will be constantly moving to see the whole picture, and you'll get eye-fatigue. It takes away from the experience.
While most manufacturers tout the biggest and largest and all that (we're no different!), but if you're looking for the movie theater experience, you don't want to create the ambiance of sitting in the front row. (Well, some people like that!) But pick a screen size that you can enjoy the whole picture with little or no eye movement. Not that there's anything wrong in getting a big panel - hey, I wouldn't dream of talking you out of it. But consider what you'll be doing with it, how much you'll be watching it, and what experience you want to have. Some people want to watch hours of leisure TV - smaller might be better. Some want to be overtaken by the picture and crank up the volume - a big panel might add - it's really all personal taste.
For reference, a good starting point might be:
52" screen = @150 inches = 12 feet
46" screen = @130 inches = 11 feet
40" screen = @120 inches = 10 feet
That's a good starting point, and then adjust to your taste. Just a bit of friendly advice.
