50" Plasma Decision

Jul 26, 2005 12:08AM PDT

I am looking to purchase a 50" Plasma (HD of course) and have a $5K budget. The TV will be wall mounted attached to a new surround sound system. What is the best picture for the money (to watch DVD movies and sports)? Any help on Mnfctr/Model #, experiences, etc is appreciated.

I recommend creating a table of requirements and listing those displays you find along side these requirements. Make sure you're getting what you need and that the cost is added up and compared.

For instance, the C|net reviews the previous post links to would probably point you to the Panasonic TH-50PHD7UY. Which fits in your budget at under $5,000. But notice that the needed accessories include the actuall HDTV receiver and speakers. You might not need speakers in your case, but also consider how this will be hooked up to your other components. The review of this product indicates that there are limited inputs.

Don't forget to include cables in your budget. This can easily end up suprising you by costing you hundreds, perhaps even for a single cable.

Enjoy!
