5 year old Sony KV-36FV15

Aug 30, 2005 4:38AM PDT

I'm thinking of buying a 5 year old Sony KV-36FV15 (32'' flat screen CRT) for $300. Is it worth it?

I'm not quite ready to buy a HDTV set and my budget is low $300s.

How long do CRT tvs last anyway?
Any suggestions?

thanx!

Been shopping at walsmart lately? While not a Sony, you may be unpleasantly awakened at how cheap some sets are.

I've already checked. But my ambitious and naively hopeful side really wants to get a flat screen 32" for low $300s. Silly

so do you think I'd be able to get another 3-5 years out of that Sony?

thanks! Happy

You never can tell.

None of my TVs have made it to 10 years without some service call. I would not bet on it.

wouldn't a kv-36 be a 36 inch tv ?

also... just remember that you will find brand new Sharp flat screens at Sam's club for not much more $.

If you are talking about a "36" inch sony that has never been repaired then it is a pretty good deal.

Yes you could get a new 32" for this amount.
I have a 32" toshiba. 14 years old still works, but is developing a problem, most likely I wiil replace it.
The CTRs last a long time, usualy it's the control board that has the problem, such is the case with mine.
If it looks good and dosen't have any problems you may be fine. John
