Yes, many receivers out there have 5 channel stereo which sends stereo to the front and back and combines it for the center. I'd look and make sure your front channel speakers are angled down toward the listening position. Many installers put in a standard in ceiling speaker for the front channels and the sound is directed straight down and when you are sitting in your chair you do not hear the correct balance of high frequencies. They are not being directed to your ears. Look at the speaker if you can to see if the baffle is angled above the ceiling to aim the sound at your chair or if they have aimable tweeters.
I just bought a house with a game room with 5.1 surround speaker set up with the main 5 speakers in ceiling. Are there 5.1 receivers available that will push just stereo to the front and rear sets of speakers when listening to only music?
