Question

4K UHD TV on 60HZ?

Jun 22, 2017 6:28AM PDT

Hello,
I just bought brand new LG UHD 4K 43UHD61 tv.
I asked, in store, for just few things, and those are 4K, minimum 100HZ, and not to be 3D.
And now I came back, I found on some web pages that this TV is 60HZ.
On back of the TV it says 50-60HZ next to POWER but I can't see how it can be connected with refresh rate.
Called store and they said it is 100Hz because every TV with TruMotion is at least 100Hz.
Am I tricket? Should I return it? Will I have problems with watching fullHD/4K content?
Thanks.

Clarification Request
It can get confusing.

Are you asking about PANEL RATES or INPUT RATES?

It can, can't it?

About Rates that makes your picture smooth as silk Happy
Really not into that stuff, but was warned to be careful there.

I can't begin.

Just a beginning.

Video arrives at the TV in standard rates. These rates are 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 frames per second. This is the standard input rate and can really cheese off folk that thought getting some 100 or higher panel rate would change the standards.

Then we have the panel rates. Some video processing goes on to get the input rate onto the screen at another higher rate (many sets.)

My view is motion processing is not perfected yet so I continue to turn off motion processing since the glitches are unacceptable to me. Some folk like them.

Thank you so much for helping me, I am really uneducated consumer.
Just to be sure,
It is fine as it is, and I sould not have any issues with watching movies and sports?

If you expect smooth as silk.

I worry you will be disappointed. Be sure to get the return policy in writing since anyone that expects that may go through a few sets until they understand the limits of HDTV technology.

Again, the source always matters. I've seen sports video with source errors and the client thinking it's the TV's fault. Nope. We've shown them frame by frame playback and there's the error. The TV's job is to show the video as presented. It can't guess how to fix it (yet.)

Thanks again

Thanks,
The only thing is I don't want to be disappointed because I took 60HZ TV instead of 100HZ TV.
If that is the same thing, great.

This is why we need to clarify input and panel rates.
Jun 23, 2017 6:23AM PDT

There is current no video standard that is 100Hz so you must be living in a 50Hz video standard country. The TV can take that and double the images to get a 100Hz panel rate but smoothing is hit and miss.

It's a shame the retailer didn't go over this.

That 50/60hz is for the input power, nothing to do with refresh rate of the screen.
