Resolved Question

4790k temp ok?

Jan 3, 2015 12:40AM PST

I just installed a corsair h80i liquid cooler and wanted to test out if its running ok.I ran aida 64 for 5 mins and the temp stayed steady for 3 mins between 170 F to 180 F.Do those temps seem ok? or should it be running lower?
thanks in advance

im in business,i seen someone with a similar problem on corsair forums as to the backplate for the cooler was loose and he put some washers on it,which my backplate did have play,so i did the same,i put 2 washers on each post,i made both the corsair fans exhaust(also have a 200 mm intake in the front and another 120 exhaust top) and i re-thermal pasted the heatsink with artic 5.Shes running great,i ran aida 64 for 10 minutes and it never went over 50 Celsius at 100 % load..and she idles at 28 Celsius.

wanna say thank you very much for the help!

130F is certainly inside the rating.

But it's that Delta Temperature (dT)number that tells us if the new setup is better than the old. If the old CPU temp was 180 for example before and after one might think it didn't help, but if the case temp was 10F higher then the dT did in fact drop.

ya new change

i posted this on toms forum as well and im hearing this is bad,and im agreeing,i ran aida 64 again and i hit temps of 200 F which i know this should not happen nearly with this cooler,so im gonna change the fan direction( i had it as intake from rear like it said) to outtake being i have a 200 mm as intake in the front and a 120 mm exhaust on top,and also re-seat and re- thermal paste the manifold and set it criss cross pattern(did this the firs time, but gonna double do)and hope this is the fix.....these liquid coolers are a pain, but hoping i can fix it to learn something and not have wasted money being the stock cooler was doing the same thing this is doing...ill kjeep this updated..wish me luck!
