46" sony vs. samsung

Am interested in purchasing one of these t.v.'s. Want to pick sony because of the name but hear that samsung is also good. The models are Sony Bravia V-5100 or SamsungB650. Samsung looked much better at Best Buy but about the same at P.C. Richards.
Help needed from anyone who has these t.v's or knows the lines.

what are you doing w/ the HDTV?

It helps to also know what primarily you will be viewing/doing w/ the new HDTV. Just to get a general sense. Viewing HD content via a sat/cable box? which sat/cable provider? Viewing Blu Ray or Standard definition DVDs? Gams via Xbox, PS3 or Wii? Connecting a laptop via VGA port (etc.)

Will be using Verizon fios as the cable provider. Am also purchasing a blu-ray home theater system.
