The TCON board idea has reached mythical status. Here's a link about troubleshooting TVs. But my view is that if I work such I want the service manual and a proper tech bench.

While watching TV the other day, the TV just went blank but I could still hear the audio, I turned off the TV and back on again and the red light flashed 3 times and the screen stayed blank and the audio was still active.
After some Googling and youtubing it was suggested that it could be the mainboard or possibly the T-con board, but it depended on if the TV had backlight or not, mine doesn't have backlight but when I do the flashlight test I can see the menu turning on and off when I hit the button, this suggests its the mainboard, so I purchased a replacement mainboard and also a T-con board just in case.
The power board must be working to show the menu plus the optical socket has the red light showing on.
Having tried both boards in sequence the problem still exists, still get 3 red light flashes, still get the menu showing on the flashlight test.
Anyone know what else could possibly be the cause?
What could I be missing?
Any help would be very much appreciated as money is very tight and buying another TV of this spec is of out of reach at this time.
Regards.
Ferkin.
