42" Plasma TV

Dec 26, 2004 1:10AM PST

I will be relocating to England in about a month and would like to buy a 42" plasma TV with me. The cost is really the driving force (due to the currency).

In addition to the usual Plasma questions, my purchase decision is further complicated because I want to make sure it will work well there. Basically I would like to purchase a TV that has PAL/NTSC/SECAM, so it will work in most parts of the world as I may be moving around a bit.

If anyone out there has had to make a similar decision please advise. I am looking to spend around $2k. The Panasonic TH42PWD7UY keeps coming up as the best choice. Any comment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have owned the prior model of the Panasonic plasma you mentioned for about 1 year. For the $ it's nothing short of fantastic! I've seen the price drop by $1,000 to 2500 at Costco, where I shop. Don't know about the tuner etc as mine is just a plasma which I use with Comcast's HDTV DVR. I'd buy another one at the drop of a hat, if I had the $, only it would be 50". In short, you can't go wrong with it. Stretch your budget if you can.
