40-50 inch TV - Plasma or LCD & best buy???

I notice very few up to date reviews on TV's, I suspect the models change quickly and hence not many people review them.

I need to replace my gateway plasma 42inch. I use it for a monitor via DVI in addition to the t.v. so this feature is a must.

I'm on a tight budget as this was not a planned expense, $2,000 - $3,000 is the amount I can spend.
