Video Cameras forum

Question

4 x ultra hd video camera

Just got a new video camera from ebay.. (no name).
everything seems to work OK. video recordings(MOV) play back on the camera just fine. When I transfer them over to my PC with the SDHC card. the playback is all distorted and smeary. I know I must be doing something wrong.
Never had any experience with video cameras before.

- "no name", but can you tell the maker and model number and a link to the user manual?
- what program are you using to view that video on your PC?
- did you try other programs?

I think I can record OK in 4K but my playback is incapable

I think I can record OK in 4K but my playback is incapable of playback at that resolution... if I record in 1080 I can get acceptable playback. through my Lenovo laptop and a 25 " lcd monitor..... is there a way to convert a video file down from 4K to 1080 ?

Yes. I'd use VLC Player for that as well.

Welcome to 4k video

Since we don't know the configuration or other environmental items (CPU, physical RAM, available hard drive space, media player being used - VLC player has already been recommended, whether you are copying the media file to the computer then trying to play it or reading it from the SF flash memory card) of your Lenovo laptop, we have no way to know if it should be expected to deal with 4k video.

I have a 2 year-old Lenovo laptop and I have zero expectation that it will run 4k video. Playback and editing are done on more suitable computers.

In addition to VLC player, HandBrake is another very useful video utility.

One last player to try.

Go get VLC Player from Ninite.com and test.

But if the PC is subpar such as some Celeron with 1GB RAM, that could be a problem. Be sure to not play the video over USB. Copy it to a local drive, then test play it with VLC.
