4+GB Program in Add/Remove Program!?

Dec 9, 2003 10:46AM PST

When I was searching for unused programs to uninstall I noticed a entry for one with 4090.00MB! The program is HP Photo and Imaging 1.2 - Scanjet 4570c Series. When I check it in Explorer it is a little over 200MB.
I don't plan on uninstalling it at this time but I am concerned that if I do I will uninstall things I don't want to.
Is this something I can fix or am I concerned about nothing?
Gateway Performance 600, 512MB Ram, XP Pro, and all known patches and service packs.

The total may include data files from scans. I don't have your machine to dissect this, so it's up to you to look into it.

What's broken?

Can you leave it alone and does it work fine?

I agree with you that if it ain't broke don't fix it. The scanner works fine except that it sometimes does a double output. I don't want to uninstall it at this time. It's only been installed for a few months and not used enough to have generated that much data.
I was thinking that maybe the system had crosslinked it or something like that.Is there a way to view the information that the Control Panel Add-Remove applet is referring to?

Let's ask this.

Is Microsoft known for leaving "cosmetic" issues like this?

(Hint: don't fix this.)
