Ebay SUCKS!
Jun 16, 2005 12:21AM PDT

We all must realize what Ebay and Paypal are all about. They are all about making money. They could careless about right or wrong. The people that makes them the most money is ALWAYS right, and those that don't are ALWAYS wrong. They advertise fraud protection, but there isn't any. How could they protect anyone without any sort of quality control? When you buy something off Ebay, cross your fingers and pray that you get what you paid for, or get anything at all for that matter. And when you use Paypal to "safely and quickly" pay for your stuff, good luck getting your money back from them after you hit the "Send" button. Yet, Ebay is still growing by leaps and bounds year over year. In the end, we only got ourselves to blame. We support them by using their services. We grow them into the beast they are by subverting to their haphazard rules. While the title of this blurp is "Ebay SUCKS!", it is really about me looking into the mirror, slapping myself into the realization that even though I know what I was getting into, I did it anyway. That one bad experience with Ebay and Paypal finally happened to me, but I wonder if I would ever use their service again!

Screwing Ebay
Aug 2, 2005 11:57PM PDT

List some real nasty useless crap on Ebay that no one in their right mind would want, and start it at just 1c. Let it run for a few hours then remove the listing. DO NOT list anything else now for a month and wait for Ebay to send their account for 15c for the listing fee. Send 'em a check and it will cost Ebay more than 15c to process the check. That way Ebay L O S E S money.

So hit me with your BEST SHOT!
May 23, 2006 1:44PM PDT

We have bought over 15,000.00 dollars in new and slightly used tools for our cabinet company on EBAY.

We just about lost $380.00 on an auction we won when all of the sudden the sellers disclosed damage to one of the tools in an email to us after the auction ended, but still had not paid for the items!

WOW! How often does this happen I asked my wife?

Don't pay she said!
So I refused to pay!

After 1 month had passed the seller filed an unpaid item dispute demanding with harsh words and rederick... PAY ME OR ELSE!

Or else what? ? ?

If not getting burned and loosing $380.00 to a lying seller in exchange for a non paying bidders strike is what it takes to keep from getting burned then....

''HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST (STRIKE) SHOT!''

This is just another reason why EBAY SUCKS!

Ebay is so fradulant. I had a 98.9% feedback rating and had put a lot of time and $ into this venture. After being loyal for 3 years and taking fees from me from ebay and paypal. They kicked me off with no justification. They won't let me call, won't answer my emails and won't explain what they problem is - i am soooo frustrated and upset as this was my means of income. I am a powerseller and a buyer so my experience with eBay has been daily for 2 years. I am overwhelmed with distress and exhaustion from my experiences with eBay and am at the point of considering legal advice.

At any time can any competitor of a seller bid on items to outbid genuine bidders, and then not pay, leaving the seller with high final value fees.

At any time can any competitor of a seller bid on items for the purpose of discretiting their user reputation i.e. feedback profile.

There is a known extremist group that exists on eBay that will favor outrageous, extreme and sometimes violent tactics to rid eBay of their competitors. They do not accept any form of compromise, and they are known to become extremely aggressive with even their own group members if any should oppose their actions. They bait and manipulate their opponents with unmeasured skill.

eBay is fully aware of this group, and one of eBays own employees is a participant of the group.

Sound too far fetched and like someones worst paranoid delusion? Try identifying yourself to the members of the "castoffs" as a competitor or as someone that opposes their tactics and see for yourself... but be forwarned, their actions are not just limited to eBay.

If they find your phone number(s) you can expect that it will be used. If they find your e-mail address, you can expect that to be used too. If they know your physical address, you'd better believe that one way or another they will use it.

If you own a business off of eBay but still on the internet it isn't off the radar. They know it's there and they will go after that too.

eBay is fully aware of this group and allows them to meet on their website, in their eBay groups. eBay will not address the fact that these, "castoffs" are literally terrorizing hundreds of eBayers. The bottom line is that the harm that is being done is not significant enough in dollars to make enough of a presence in their day to day corporate dealings.

I am one of many victims of this system. Yes, I understand that eBay can not police it's hundreds of sites around the world against the defamation, libel, harrassment, stalking and visciousness of this group so they can claim no responsibility.

In the meantime, someone (gold powerseller) who has earned them thousands of dollars is living in a very dark corner and on the brink of bankruptsy without eBay ever taking notice.

I would llike to use eBay but it won't let me use a credit card. Ebay only gives me the paypal option to pay. Instead of carging my credit card, It always tries to make a direct withdrawl from my checking account, which it tells me is invalid and refuses to recognise. Online support says I have to call a certain telephone number to resolve the issue. But after various times on hold I get just get disconnected.

In the first place I would rather pay by credit card. I always pay off the balance in full every month, and hardly ever carry a balance. My checking account is not invalid. Anway I don't like the idea of a merchant accesing my checking account directly unless I am writing a check.

paypal And Ebay Ganged up on Me!
Dec 15, 2005 2:31PM PST

Dear Members.
I Really Liked Ebay An Paypal BUT.........
After Reading many of the posts here i am not surprised that Paypal And Ebay did what they did to me.
I have been an ebay member for over 5 years.I am(WAS) a powerseller and ran my ebay store.I have also been using paypal for over 3 years.I run numerous websites online.I decided to get into the xbox 360 presale thing on ebay.Ebay says you can presale must deliver within 30 days-great i said lets start promoting.
i was doing good sold over 50 units in a week and was going to make good money out of it.Paypal without any prior notice decided to lock down my account with the funds and gave me the reason that i had an increase in revenue and they wanted me to give them shipping info, sources and invoices!!!I needed the funds to buy them from my supplier.I told them these are preorders and will only ship after the release date. After emailing them i got on the phone and told them this personally.Believe it or not Within 30 minutes ebay shut me down and locked me out-I was a powerseller-ebay store the whole works and i just paid the last invoice of over $500 us the day before. No prior warning-no answers.I tried emailing Ebay and they responded by telling me to resolve the problem with paypal first-IMAGINE.
All in a 2 hour time span.
I thought it over and the only solution( was to refund all my transactions and try to forward as many customers as i can through my online store in order to try to satisfy them.I went through hell doing this and managed to deliver 1/5 of the units since i was all messed up in the funding/refunding business.Still Today Dec 16-2005 my account is not open on either site-this starting nov5-2005.All have been refunded and merchandise promised has been delivered.
I did not even get any curtiousy from ebay even as a powerseller.
Paypal also noted that they also allow presales but items must deliver within 20 days unlike ebay its 30 days.Their policies do not match,BUT as i was told they are allowed to do this.
2-Months work for nothing,-customers-reputation-effort all down the drain.
Since Ebay and Paypal are together they gang up on all users who presold,Not Just Me-This is what Paypal Told me!!.Ebay could have told me to stop selling and let me go on using my account but NOOOOOO they shut me down and hung me to dry!
As for Paypal they did the same and are they ever slow!!
MY time and Money was lost but to them thats my problem-RIGHT!!
I guess they all make too much money, but then again why are they worried about me,an honest businesssman who tries to make a living and who has been devoted to them-You figure it out!
Did you know ebay makes $1000/second.
Maybe i was getting to popular and they wanted my piece of the action(sales)-BIG Brother Control.
I learned my lesson and i appreciate all who take the time to read this.
From a retired Ebay/Paypal Addict who is now much more wiser.
Spend more time with family & friends and not on the Net unless you have a good reason.

Seasons Greetings to all.

Hey! Go back to eBay. Make yourself a whole new account solely for the purpose of posting your story in forums (bulletin board?) on that site. TELL EVERYONE!! YOU GET TEN POST. Ebay will notify you that your misusing their boards, but who cares? they misused u right? If enough people get wise and spread this crap that eBay does it will eventually close them down. COURT SIDES AGAINT EBAY
Mar 11, 2006 2:39AM PST

The Office of the Solicitor General said in a brief filed with the Supreme Court that eBay willfully infringed on patents held by Great Falls-based MercExchange LLC and should be enjoined from using its "Buy It Now" feature, which allows users to buy goods at fixed prices rather than compete in auctions. Goods sold using that system account for about a third of eBay's business.

EBay has been found guilty of willfully infringing two patents held by MercExchange but has not been barred from using the systems, because of a district court decision to deny an injunction. An appellate court reversed that decision. 3/11/06

Online auctioneer eBay Inc. on Monday launched "eBay Express," an online store to sell new items ranging from cookware and books to electronics _ all with no bidding involved.

The Express store "is a window into the larger eBay marketplace," said eBay spokesman Brad Williams. "We think it'll attract those who have never tried eBay before because it's more of a traditional e-commerce site."

Only qualified merchants who have a history of selling successfully on eBay and meet certain levels of positive feedback scores will be eligible to sell on eBay Express, the company said. http://www.ebayexpress.com

eBay is a fraud
Jun 29, 2006 10:26AM PDT

The last bid by another bidder just before close was $209.50. I tried to place a bid during the last few seconds, at the same time that the seller was apparently trying to close the bid. Before my final bid was placed, the cost started incrementing down from $209.50, and after I placed my bid, it showed I had won the bid for $0.01. eBay records indicated that I won the bid for $0.01, but of course, the seller wouldn't sell the item for that price, and he showed no willingness to negotiate. It's an eBay system problem, but they refuse to cancel my billed item for $0.01 plus shipping. Too bad we have no way to actually talk to someone at eBay. The folks they use to answer emails are useless robots.

Forget ebay with those auction type formats and fees. It always amazed me that people go to ebay since in real life they almost never attend auctions. But we do attend clearance racks and that is exactly what drop.com is. Its a clearance rack where you can buy and sell stuff - and its FREE! The listing prices on the site drop sometimes every second - hence the name - drop.com. Since its free, what do you have to loose? Happy

ebay hazzards
Sep 28, 2006 10:36AM PDT

I'm not one who leans toward government involvement in anything, but there needs to be a serious investigation into the business practices of Ebay and their management.
Their dictatorial decrees at the expense of the innocent are so serious in nature that oversight legislation must be enacted to protect the public from the abuse which Ebay spawns due to their incompetent yet highly touted customer support which amounts to less than nothing.
Without the active and visible protection of an independent organization to oversee the activities of Ebay, the public is at constant risk of fraud at all levels.
Example:
A seller who sells high dollar items at volume suddenly has his account terminated by Ebay. The seller isn't given a reason, only that somehow he has "possibly" violated Ebay rules. Now the buyers who have sent their payments to the seller, just as suddenly discover that the seller is no longer a "registered member". Uh Oh!! Their payments have arrived in the hands of a person who may or may not decide to abide by the rules of an organization he's just been kicked out of. The buyers are now starting to sweat. Panic sets in as the email's sent to the seller go unanswered.
Because the robots at Ebay decided to terminate the sellers account without even verifying whether any infractions were indeed committed with the seller directly, scores of honest people are now on the verge of coronary heart failure. As it turns out a buyer's spam blocker was misconfigured and he wasn't getting responses from the seller. The buyer cries to Ebay and without a whisper, Ebay closes the sellers account leading to the definite possibility nay, facilitating the possibility of fraud against honest people.
Example 2:
A buyer pays for an item with a money order. Weeks later as he waits patiently for his item nothing shows. So the buyer contacts the seller who claims never to have gotten payment. After weeks go by, if I as a seller hadn't been paid, I would have contacted the buyer and asked where payment was, but not this seller.
Now after weeks go by the seller suddenly decides to move against you and complains to Ebay that he was never paid. Ebay sends you a "strike" for non payment. A week later your account is terminated. That's it... No reason or response from Ebay except for a standard email stating that you've been canceled because of an Ebay policy violation. Your account is over.
Communicating with Ebay is somewhat perplexing. If you have a standard no issue topic or question, you can expect a generally pleasant response in a timely manner. But if you have a dreaded policy infraction or if someone has decided to maliciously attack you and use Ebay support as their weapon, you are in for a terrible waste of time attempting any resolution through Ebay's alleged shining example of customer support.
You will be fed email after email of standard response forms with virtually no beneficial information, advice or direction. If you are unlucky enough to have cash or property involved at the time of Ebay's decree then you are out of luck.
Let's not even get into the feedback extortion that Ebay hails as their own which supposedly protects their members from fraudulent individuals. How many people take it in the *** simply to avoid having a negative feedback put on them as retribution?
Or how about the Paypal scam? As we have all seen with Ebay support and their dictatorial judgements, Ebay cannot be trusted with making right or wrong decisions. They are completely inept, yet millions give Ebay access to their personal Paypal funds through credit card and direct bank accounts as a rite of passage to do business on Ebay even though the stories are rampant on the Internet as to how Ebay has lorded the same inept judgements against Paypal buyers and sellers and have garnished, nay, confiscated funds from personal accounts with the same disregard for truth or authority, and people continue to participate!
This is an outrage, yet this type activity goes on all day every day at Ebay and no protection for the consumer.

This is a dangerous organization to have involved in ANY transaction much less having direct access to your personal finance!
Know then that there is an inherent danger in every Ebay transaction you make and that if you participate you are at the mercy of an entity without logic or morality and expect nothing from Ebay except the absurd and irrational.

My best advice is to avoid Ebay like the plague.....

eBay and PayPal steal from Paul to pay Mary
Oct 17, 2006 2:27PM PDT

PayPal closes accounts with funds in them in order to cover their loses to fraud and to increase revenue... they need to show their stock shareholders they are making a decent profit. They freeze accounts for a minimum of 180 days and do not respond when requested information is supplied. THEN THEY KEEP YOUR MONEY PERMANENTLY. You have no way to fight this except to take them to small claims court in your state. YES, you can take them to court in your state, don't let their threatening legal letters scare you away. It's all a BLUFF. They are sued all the time and won't spend the money to hire an attorney to defend themselves... it's too costly. Courts NEVER let creeps like ebay/paypal recover legal expenses even if you lose! The courts almost never require anyone to reimburse legal fees, it's just a veiled threat. Only liars without evidence lose in court.

I strongly suggest sending a dated and signed letter CERTIED MAIL to their office and request specific correspondence that ebay/paypal retains on their computer about your account. Ask specific questions and documentation from them. Let them know you are gathering evidence for a possible lawsuit and their response and cooperation is expected within 10 days. Send another letter if they fail to respond. Let them know they did not respond and give them photocopies of the certified mail receipts and the letter. Keep photocopies in your possession and do not lose the certified mail receipts. While you are doing this, file an online complaint with your state's Attorney General (just Google Attorney General and then your state name). This is your first stage of Fact Finding... the Discocery process.

FYI This is not legal advice Happy

I was a diehard Ebay buyer, I loved the bidding and the buying! I had over 300 positive experiences with Ebay but one terrible experience with a seller totally turned me off from Ebay. This seller had a pretty good system going, positive feedback ect, but I never checked their previous ID history!! How can a company like Ebay allow a seller to continually get suspended, yet still allow them to obtain a new ID, so that the seller can prey on more innocent buyers? This is what was happening, which I found out later when another Ebay user emailed me. ''Gain trust, buyers & positives, throw a big sale, then send nothing out''. If you're buying, always check the ID history to see if the seller has had multiple ID'S in a short amount of time & see what the positive/negative feedback says about them, unless they've turned it to private of course. It's also unfortunate that Ebay won't allow buyers to post feedback after a seller has been suspended, because anyone looking at it obviously won't get the true feedback rating. Maybe by now Ebay has a better system for weeding out these types of sellers, but unless I'm desperate for something I won't be bidding anytime soon. I do feel bad for all of the honest sellers out there. If Ebay had helped out or had at least acknowledged what was going on & stopped it, I would be thinking differently.

got kicked off ebay for complaining
Mar 9, 2007 2:01PM PST

I have been using Ebay for about a year and had a spotless record. 100% positive.
I guess Iam not the only one who thinks Ebay is a Hitler Regime.
I was sent a email today telling me I was officially terminated and not allowed to use Ebay. Why? I actually had the nerve to complain about a seller who did not send an item won and paid for. I got the run around after having no luck emailing the seller. I would answer all there questions and they would continue to send me automative responses to all my emails which most the time had nothing to do with my complaint,, it was amazing how they would not answer my questions, not respond to any of the questions I answered that they ask, as if I was talking to a invisible person or a computer. I finally had it and told them off , then they sent a reply saying " I was considered a trouble maker and a danger for the Ebay community.. LOL... the fact that I was toally ripped off was not a danger to me , but my complaining about it was? HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS?
It's impossible for retail stores to treat customers with such disrepect but Ebay gets away with doing it daily.
Nazi Ebay is what they should be called.
