3g modem vs old phone

hi guys, hope this is the right place for this question

i am looking for ways to connect my laptop to the internet when im not at home. i was just curious if i can connect my old Nokia phone as a modem (buy databundles for it - so i dont use the airtime). in this way it will save me from buying a 3G dongle

Not all phones do that and here we have no make/model so that answer must be no for now.

my old phone is a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and im sure it can act as a modem

Looks challenging. As in, nothing I would do. notes this is a dated SYMBIAN phone.

You could research "tethering with a Symbian phone" but I've never seen it done.
Also for research try "Hotpot with a Symbian phone"

Sounds like a challenge and here, I'd just go to a free WiFi spot before I'd do all that.
