Question

3d printer kit

Aug 27, 2016 5:41AM PDT

I want to buy a 3d printer DIY kit for a fourth year student in mechanical engineering. I am considering the Prusa MK2, their latest model. Any suggestions or advice appreciated.

The dollars in rarely matches what you get from such things. I let the office pay for such things.

They provide some insight and recommendations as well. I suggest if you're new to this then get a simple model 3D printer to offset costs and hopefully(co.) be around for several yrs..

Complex 3D printers can be costly not only in operation and supplies but what s/w they use. Thus, select a s/w based model that can support other s/w if possible or freebie s/w. Be aware some creations take a long time to complete if simpler than so-called fast printing models. Better 3D printers tend to be in the $2K range and above but affordable is around $500-600 or so. Check for used printers as well, but be wary.
