32bit Software for Windows 8

Jan 8, 2014 4:44AM PST

Recently, I purchased a Samsung Surface laptop pc.
When I download software, I get this message:
"This ab won't run on this pc."

During my investigation, I've determined that this pc uses a 32bit processor.

Is this a problem while using Windows 8 OS..?

There is a promise of a 64 OS "real soon now."

Frankly I don't like such promises and head back to the store for a refund.

PS. Yes, I'll get one of these RSN but waiting for them to get it done.

I don't know of any Samsung Surface. Surface is a Microsoft trademark. Can you give a link to the product you bought? Then we can also see what processor and what OS it has.
And it might be interesting if you tell what software you downloaded from where.

Most Intel processors today

are 64 bit. You can install a 32 bit or 64 bit OS on the 64 processor. You can only install a 32 bit OS on the 32 bit processor. Now if you have an Atom processor it could be 32 bit and that would require 32 bit Windows 8.

Also 32 bit apps

can run in a 64 bit OS but 64 bit apps don't run on a 32 bit OS.
