It's not always a dealbreaker if the 120Hz version still has awful PQ. At typical viewing distances though, that is correct regarding 720p vs 1080p. Review the chart I posted in the previous thread and think about it a little more.
If this is the person who posted a recent thread and posted a photo of his cabinet(?), I'd still suggest going with a larger HDTV to make the upgrade worthwhile. 37-40 as a minimum starting point to move into HD viewing at typical distances.
Regarding extended warranty, it's really more of a comfort level more than anything. For me it's somewhat dependent upon the percentage of the total price. If the HDTV is $250 new, would you buy a warranty for $100(?) $50 might be where I would grab one. YMMV. Also look at Square Trade for a better price for a third party warranty.
Customer service is sometimes variable enough so you can't really generalize beyond your own experience with any of the various manufacturers. Vizio would be my last choice though for some of the reasons which have been discussed in this forum and elsewhere.
If you feel your internet speeds need to be updated then do it if you plan on streaming Netflix, etc to the new HDTV. That said, I still feel UVERSE is not as reliable in many locations where it has been sold as a better performing product. YMMV. Cable high speed internet would be my choice if it fits your budget.
I would keep doing more research, since it seems like you still have some issues to sort out.
cheers
Does any TV manufacturer make a 32" LED HDTV set with 720p and 120Hz? I had an audio-video guy come out to my house today; a free service call and he advised me to purchase a 32" LED HDTV set for my existing entertainment cabinet; a set with 720p with 120Hz.
He said there wouldn't be much difference that I woud be able to notice on a 32" set with 720p vs a 32" set with 1080p but he did recommend getting a 32" LED HDTV set with 720p having 120Hz rather than a 32" LED HDTV set with 720p having 60Hz.
He told me a Smart TV wouldn't be advisable because of the size of the TV; a 32" and my AT&T DSL Extreme 6.0 internet speed wasn't fast enough to allow for good streaming; whatever that meant.
He said to switch to AT&T Uverse 12.0 or better for better streaming or stay with my AT&T DSL Extreme 6.0 if I wasn't planning on watching streaming programming.
Between Samsung; Vizio; LG; Sharp and some of the other TV manufacturers which company or companies offer the best customer service after the sale? I've read a lot of complaints about Vizio. Finally would you purchase an extended warranty on a 32" set or pass? I could see purchasing one if I was buying a 60" set but I'm not.
