just wondering if anyone would know what would be wrong with my tv. it is 6 years old and now whenever i turn it on, the picture continues to flash black the whole time i am watching it. sometimes it does it slowly sometimes quickly. i may go a few minutes b/f it starts up again but it will not go away. the sound remains on, just the picture flashes. i believe the picture tube is going out but just wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions?
thanks

Is it a Sony Trinitron KV-32V75 or something like it?
Made about 11/98? (manufacture date on back of set.) My brother-in-law had the same EXACT problem, last fall. Had to replace it. It was only six years old too. Had to buy a new set before X-mas. Repairs would have cost him more money than he paid for it!

if i turn the picture mode from vivid to standard and then turn down the quality and brightness to where i have a dull somewhat poorly lit picture, it works fine, no flashing. any thoughts?

It may cost more to repair that a new set,, kinda vaccumes I know. Faced a simliar problem with my 32" 14 year old Toahiba, Paid a $1000 for it but could buy a new one for $300. Gave my a good excuse to get a HDTV. John
