Let's keep this to your first post at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6122_102-0.html?forumID=44&threadID=317074&messageID=2911055&tag=commProfileMain%3bprofileBot#2911055
I am planning to buy a new tablet. When I look in the customization section for choices in Vista I see that the "home" version comes in both the 32 bit and 64 bit types.
Reading online, I have gathered that 32 bit programs don't run properly on the 64 bit Vista. So, I might have a lot of issues at present if I buy the 64 bit version.
On the other hand, 32 bit version only recognizes upto 3 GB RAM. In the future, if I need to upgrade my RAM I may have to buy a new laptop as I would need a 64 bit processor to run a 64 bit operating system. I have heard that Windows 7 will only be a 64 bit version.
I am confused.
Could you please suggest as to what I should buy now that lasts for another 3 to 4 years?
