Try ANY router that is a gigabit router. Be sure the routers have current firmware.
Your finding is typical on older 10/100 megabit routers.
Hi there, I would like some help in regards to my internet. For some background info, it seems that every other year we've always had some internet issues and had to have someone from our provider check it out. Last week they did a repair and this time we seemed confident things will be good. I have Cox as my internet provider and we had recently upgraded to the 300 Mbps plan. When we first got this new plan the highest we saw are desktop do was 150 Mbps via Ethernet (results from fast.com). But after a couple days it seems to stick around at 60-75 Mbps. As far as WiFi goes, my laptop would see around 20 Mbps or less. Why am I seeing such low download speeds? I have an Arris SB6183 for my modem, which we bought 2 weeks ago, and I have a Netgear N300 WNR2000 from 2012. My best guess is the router may be too old which is why my download speeds over WiFi is low, but why the PC which is connected via Ethernet? I am planning to get a new router anyways but I just wanted to verify if that could be the main culprit. And if so any good recommendations? We have 8 devices that connect wireless (4 phones, two laptops, and 2 Xbox consoles). A friend recommend the Netgear R670, would anyone else agree? Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any helpful answers/advice.
