Unfortunately, MPC isn't a commonly-supported format. The only manufacturer I'm aware of that has any devices that supports Musepack is Cowon. Their 60GB Q5W supports MPC, but it's slightly north of $300 (approx. $325 on Amazon). It's also BIG (5" touchscreen). It's also a hard drive-based device as well, so if durability is a concern that might be a determining factor for you. It's also a device that's been around awhile, and in this 'yesterday's news' marketplace as a result is a bit harder to find from retailers.
Cowon players are often noted for their excellent sonic characteristics, though almost as much they're knocked for having fair to mediocre user interfaces. Considering that this player came live in 2007, this sort of issue might be the case with the Q5W without knowing what sort of support and updates from Cowon have taken place in the intervening time. Supposedly the Q5W is available with smaller drive sizes as well (as well as larger @ 80GB), so you might find one for less than your $300 price point. Best of luck.
Well, I've had my old 2gb iPod Nano for around two years, but it's getting old, glitchy and full. So, I'll be needing something new, with more compatibility, and with 16 or more gigabytes of space. It needs to be able to play .mpc files, because that's one file type I've been gathering for a while, for it's high quality.
I don't care about the features of the player, so long as it's good really good sound quality, and can play a large variety of formats.
Anyone got a list of ones that fill that criteria? Thanks in advance.
