General discussion

3 .Nets

Jul 15, 2007 12:05AM PDT

Through a very extensive investigation, I've found out that there are 3 .net frameworks on my puter. (1.1, 2.0, and 3.0) Are the7 all supposed to be there? If not, let me know what I should do.
(No one in my household admits to anything.)

I too wish Microsoft had handled this better.

They aren't going to hurt anything by being there, but you really only need the most recent version. I never install it myself, so can't say for sure, but I hear that the .NET Framework 3.0 requires 2.0 to be installed. The one thing I do know, is that there are virtually no programs that require the .NET Framework, so if you feel like removing them all, you should feel free.

Windows installer

When I try to delete the .nets, I get the windows installer was not correctly installed or something to that effect. Did a search, couldn't find anything to repair. re-started in safe mode, re-re-started in regular mode. I'm getting the same stuff. Help?

I found a cleaner for uninstalls in Microsofts web site. You'll have to go to microsofts web site and look for it. Try the KB928366 link. I found it and it worked fine. again good luck

After all this chatter with no success I went to another forum and got my fix. All I had to do was to go to start/run and type in (msiexec /regserver). After that I uninstalled all but 1 of the Frameworks except one (2.0 and it's hotfixes) which just wouldn't go away and I'm thinking that alabala is right on this one. Anyway, everything is fine now, and thx to all.
