2Wire 1800 hg and Vista

Jul 18, 2009 8:28AM PDT

Using 2wire 1800hg Home Portal. Have successfully connected with PC Port Adaptors using the existing telephone line for a few years w/ no problems. THEN purchased a laptop w/ Vista installed. When plugging in USB port to laptop (w/ phone line connected), Vista prompts for 2wire PC port driver. I direct to the CD. Vista reads 2wire setup CD and gives this error message:
"Error number:0x80040707"
"Description: Dll function call crashed: Config2Wire.BrowerCheck"
"Setup will now terminate"

Cannot find a solution and need help. Any answers out there?

Using wireless or an ethernet is unfortunately not an option. <sigh> USB only option.

Then it's DOA.

Sorry to hear they didn't issue a driver for your new machine.

Very odd since all new machines have ethernet and that 1800hg has that plus wifi.

Why is there an USB only option here? Does someone not want this to work?

Very odd.

USB would be only used in proximity to the router. So your reply is confusing to me.

You supplied the model number so I supplied a link to it. If you supplied the wrong model number my answers would be wrong.
