The better linux distros will help you prepare the drive. If you format ahead of time you could trip up the installer.
Dell XPS plentiun D dual core 3.0 800fsb
Windows XP home
Primary harddrive sata 250gb
I am going to add a sata 80gb harddrive that will be used strictly for Linux distro's.
After installing new harddrive will I have to format before installing Linux. I will let Linux set the partitions as needed.
I have installed ide drives on fats 32 and Linux but I have never installed sata and ntfs and then installed ext3 linux.
Any help to make this install smooth will be appreciated.
