2GB 400mhz DDR or 1.5 GB 200mhz DDR?

by dirtyrich / September 7, 2006 4:02 AM PDT

I have an ASUS K8N socket 754 MB (AMD 64 3200), and recently bought a stick of 1GB PC3200 DDR to upgrade from 2 sticks of 512MB PC3200 DDR.

I initially intended to just pop it into the third slot to give me 2GB RAM, then realized that by doing so, I slashed my DDR speed in half.

So, I can use the 1GB and one 512MB to keep the speed at 400mhz, or use all three. My question is, which configuration will provide better speed?

By the way, I use my comp for gaming (Oblivion, Everquest 2, etc.) and will leave up AIM and sometimes WMP while I play.

Thanks.

If I had the 3 sticks in hand and I had the test vehicle (games) I would just install the sticks in different configs and test.

You might find it's a trade off.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
