24" Monitor for graphic design and video editing

Nov 14, 2008 5:20PM PST

I'm looking for another 24" Monitor for graphic design and video editing. Right now I have a Samsung 245BW that looks great but doing research for another 24". I found out that it's a TN and it is not really good in displaying color. I want the best price for the best quality and found some brands while googling: NEC, EIZO, and Planar, which use some kind of S-IPS panels. If you have any input about this, please help out. Thank you in advance.

Did you get the color calibrated with a Pantone Huey? It can help.

Yes, I have that in my next move. Nonetheless, I'm still looking for a second monitor for greater quality and performance for what I listed above. Right now, I'm gathering information on best of the best in price.

Did you go look at Apple's displays? They are very nice and have great color.

Could you connect the new 24" to a PC?

I have considered it when I got hooked in photo editing and graphic design, but I thought that there were better monitor configurations. That's why I decided on my first 24" Samsung. Now that I considered which technology is better for my hobbyist application, I am looking for newer monitor with those specs that will be great without spending much.

The "specs"

For monitors I want to see the monitor since the black level, antiglare or not is something that no spec seems to convey well. If you must buy on spec I'll share we have more than a few Samsungs and their users don't complain about them.

Made a typo.

I mean technology, not specs. I want to find a second 24" monitor that has better technology for my application without cashing a lot. I do agree that shopping just on spec is not enough, but it is a starting point in shopping for something. That's why researching and finding options is where you learn beyond specs.

I have a pair or HP 22 inch rotating displays that should up and running then. I picked them off geeks.com for 180 each.

Are you selling them?

I'm not looking to buy right now, but thank you. I'm in research right now as I am looking to invest next on a new MacBook Pro. I'm looking for a 24" monitor though.

On the side note, what would be the best monitor calibrator without cashing a lot.

The Pantone Huey. It's great and we shared it at the office. Amazing they didn't disallow that.

Click around and find the other models. This is like someone that helps you change a tire. You have to do a little work now and then.

X-Rite i1Display 2 so I could calibrate dual monitor setup. Found it really cheap at Amazon.

Just unpacked the first of my 22" HP displays.

I found them refurb and delabeled for 180 and these are sweet. Black is black and the viewing angles is super compared to many displays.

While I read you wanted 24 inches this one for 180 should not be overlooked and I bet you could live with it.
