Those reviews were helpful, but I was hoping for the long overdue and comprehensive review from David Katzmaier.

Answer
Vizio M75 no sound through receiver with built in Neflix

M75 and Onkyo receiver.
When using built in Chromecast (Netflix for example), no sound from receiver (only through built in speakers (which btw suck big time). When running cable (HDMI into receiver, receiver to M75), I have sound.

First, avoid adding to an open discussion with a new question. Others may not answer I might not either.

The issue is two fold. First there has to be an audio path back to the receiver from the TV. I usually set it up with an optical link. Second, in both TV menu and the App menu we have to change the setting to use the optical link. This setting is not standardized so I can never tell you exactly where it is but it is in there. Finally there may be a receiver change in settings to play the optical input.
