Only you can decide. There are rumors and certain happenings in the business world lately kind of point in certain directions, but Apple is a very secretive company, so no one outside of a very select few at Apple really know for sure.
Some rumors have Apple using Intel's new "sandy bridge" chipset, others have them sticking with the Core 2 line for a while longer so they can continue using nVidia graphics chips instead of Intel's rather limited ones. And of course Intel and nVidia are still in negotiations over whether or not nVidia has the legal right to make integrated graphics chips for Intel's Core iX lines. I've seen a few sources saying that they're close to some kind of an agreement, but even if that's true, such negotiations could easily break down at any time.
It's a wonderful world of patents we live in. Companies don't really compete anymore, they just patent every ridiculous thing they can slip past a country's patent office, and then sue anyone who starts looking like they might be a threat to their market position. The big multi-national corporations can build huge portfolios of patents, while the little guys tend to get squeezed out because they can't afford to hire a bunch of jackals to fight a long protracted lawsuit.
And we still have no idea WHEN Apple will release it's next MBP refresh. Odds are good it will be "Early 2011" but that basically means any time in the first fiscal quarter, maybe even later. Are you willing to put off purchasing until possibly May or June? If not, just buy now and don't worry about what may be coming out later. There's ALWAYS something better just around the corner. The Mid-2010s are solid systems, and I doubt there will be a refresh anytime soon that will be significantly better all around.
I've been saving up for a new laptop for about a year now, and I want to get my first Mac. I have two choices, get one now, or wait until Spring "11 for the refresh. My question is, is there any new major chipsets or processors that are a likely add to the 13 inch MPB? Because the C2Duo processors are very outdated.
And also, can the 13 inch run non-intensive games for Mac, like Minecraft? I just love that game.
Thanks.
