2010 Update... 1080p LCD Monitor or LCD HDTV (Need advice)

Dec 3, 2010 12:45AM PST

Hi all,

I've been trolling forums all over the net and wanted to get some of your expert opinions on the best way to accomplish my goal.

I currently have a 17" computer monitor. Recently, I cancelled cable (saving 100 bucks a month).

My houemate has a 54" plasma in the living room and I wanted to update my bedroom monitor to (1- get a bigger computer monitor, 2- watch dvd's in bed 3- watch shows from hulu plus).

The distance from my desk (where the monitor sits) to my bed (where my eye's would be is about 9 feet.

Having said that, I'm torn between two 27" 1080 LCD Monitor:

and whether to get a 32" TV.

Costco has a sale on a 32" LED LCD TV for $399:

Do I want an LED LCD TV vs. a standard LCD TV?

Also, Target has a sale on a 37" 1080p Vizio:

It seems that the TV's do not have a DVI port which is what I really should have for using as a PC (If I got a video card with HDMI, would the DVI still be the best route for using as a monitor)?

I'm almost leaning towards just getting the 27"... but really appreciate your opinions.

Take care,
Rob
