2010 Office beta unstability

Jun 14, 2010 5:48PM PDT

I've recently loaded the MS Office 2010 beta on my Vista (Business Edition) laptop.

Unfortunately either my laptop's not a fan of the new version, or Office isn't a fan of my laptop. I can launch Word or Excel immediately after I boot up the machine, but it tends to close down the program and then not allow it to be launched subsequently. If I use other apps for awhile and then try to launch Office apps, it just won't do it.

Any ideas how to fix this? As I deleted my previous version of Office (which couldn't open the docx and other, later version format documents) I'm hoping there's a way to get the machine and software to play well together.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Gus

That's the risk of using a beta. I'd go back to the previous version, and download the Compatibility pack to be able to access those .docx files.

Microsoft will be wanting to hear the problems that you and other users have with this Beta version.

Although I wonder about that now since they appear to have released the retail version of Microsoft Office 2010.
