2003 CLK 500 - Sound System

Mar 29, 2011 12:04PM PDT

I purchased a 2003 Mercedes CLK 500 and love the car....but hate the sound system it comes with. I have been researching this issue for several weeks, spinning my wheels with conflicting reports. So if you don't know what you are talking about, please don't reply to this discussion.

1. In-Dash Navigation: I would like to change to a Pioneer/Sony/Alpine unit with navigation. I cannot find a double-din dash kit for this car. I know there is one, because I have goggled pics of other's mods. Also, does anyone know of a wire harness?

2. Speaker System: I have seen conflicting reports about whether or not this model has a fiber optic sound system. Yes or no? If it is, does this really mean I will have to get the whole car re-wired?

3. Factory Amp: To bypass or not???

Your help is much appreciated!!!! Thanks.
